Over the years, the standardized sizing for garments has changed drastically. While we provide the vintage size information if present, this is for education purposes only, and should not be used to determine proper fit.
We provide detailed measurements in inches while the garment is laid flat. Measurements are doubled for the chest/bust, waist, and hips.
Please take a look at the following guide for tips on measuring yourself (or a similar garment) to determine the best size and fit.
Chest/Bust: Wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of your chest.
Waist: Wrap the measuring tape around the narrowest part of your waist. For denim or pants, you can measure your waist where you prefer your pants to sit. Vintage denim is often made of 100% cotton (no stretch) and a couple of inches should be added to the waist for comfort.
Hips: Wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of your hips.
Please note: Alternatively, compare our measurements to a similar garment that fits you well. Lay the garment flat, measure across the chest (pit to pit), waist, and hips, and then double.
Additional measurements we may provide:
Shoulder to Shoulder: Measurement is taken with the garment laid flat across the back from shoulder seam to shoulder seam.
Sleeve Length: Measurement is taken from the shoulder seam to the sleeve cuff
Inseam: Measurement is taken on pants from the inner seam of the crotch to the bottom of the pant leg.
Total Length: Measurement is taken from the highest point to the bottom of the garment.
